BLM / Pride Month 2020 | Virgin Pride Flight 50 Years Since the Uprising

One year ago I was very lucky to be invited to work on a huge project for Virgin Atlantic, the worlds first ever “Pride Flight” from London to New York…

Yesterday, our pride celebrations reached new heights. Our Pride Flight with Virgin Holidays took to the skies from London to New York City to celebrate Worl...

Now though as we sit in lockdown, parties and events seem so far away. Particularly this week.

I have made a career as a gay ally, working in gay clubs and at gay events because of my musical theatre background, and I have always considered myself a strong gay ally.

Now I need to become a black ally too. I play A LOT of music by black artists or heavily influenced by black artists and now I’m going to take the time to educate myself more on how I can be a better ally.

Working at New York pride last year I learned so much about the origins of the Stonewall Riots, and I was shocked to learn that it wasn’t always a parade, it was an UPRISING - started by a black trans woman.

Here we are 50 years later. We must do better, together.
